ALASKA STATEHOOD

2009 - Master Artist - Justine Pechuzal

This mural was commissioned by the City Of Seward and Resurrection Bay Historical Society to commemorate Alaska's 50 years of statehood.  Justine Pechuzal, the sole artist, portrays Seward's unique role in the history of Alaska: its pre-European Indigenous settlements, the 1794 launching of the first Russian ships built on Resurrection Bay, establishment of the terminus of the Alaska Railroad as the port of entry to the Territory, and movement into the tourism industry.

Location - U.S. Post Office on 4th Avenue and Madison
